IBM WebSphere 6.1 with web 2.0 support

IBM unveiled its new portal software, the IBM WebSphere 6.1 featuring web 2.0 support at the IBM IMPACT SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The portal software is expected to ship out this quarter (April – June 2008). It should be noted that IBM WebSphere is ranked the No. 1 in the EPM (Enterprise Portal Market) consistently for the last 5 years.

IBM WebSphere will integrate the information between internal company website as well as from the World Wide Web. The new portal software is bundled with many new features which will result in time saving tasks, increased production, cost reduction and real time updates.

The IBM WebSphere 6.1 supports IBM AIX, IBM I5/OS, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and Microsoft Windows Server.

The beta version of this portal software was tested in various sectors like Financial, IT, Telecommunications, Healthcare and Government sectors. IBM has made many improvements after getting feedbacks from about 4000 beta testers and believes that the IBM WebSphere 6.1 will be a preferred choice for any business organization to collaborate and execute business tasks in a more secured and reliable way with less resource.
